An iMore favorite is the Logitech K380 Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard.
They all have a similar design but offer something a bit different. If you love the look of the Magic Keyboard, but you want something just a little bit different, you're sure to like one of the keyboards on this list. Which Magic Keyboard alternative should you choose? The rechargeable lithium battery can go up to six months on a single charge. You can choose from seven backlight colors and two brightness levels on this keyboard. My gut tells me that if I were a really fast typist I'd probably prefer the older style but I can't be sure.Arteck's well-priced Bluetooth keyboard is slim, portable, and it can be used with your Mac or iOS device as well as non-Apple computers. If you haven't typed on one, it's a very short throw light feel.

Overall Review: I think it's a little pricey compared with some other keyboards but overall I've been pleased and having a consistent feel both on desktop and portable has improved the speed of my typing. I wish Mac they had added the "special characters" to the keys. For instance, F12 which is usually to access Widgets is now the Volume Up key and F4 is now for Widgets. Oddly when Apple added the dedicated Function Keys, they changed from their own standards. It's not a big deal but I do clean it more often than my black keyboard. It looks really nice with my other stainless steel items.Ĭons: White shows dirt – particularly from newsprint. The 2 USB ports are neatly hidden under the lip on left and right sides of the keyboard.

I decided on this keyboard so that the typing experience would be the same whether I type on the MacBook Pro or desktop.
Pros: Compact, types like the keyboard on my MacBook Pro. In spite of that, I am very satisfied with my purchase overall. Don't expect the icons printed in the F-Keys to work in windows (you'd have to set it up manually in Windows to recognize them), but F1 - Fwhatever all work fine.įinal thought: I wouldn't have ever considered buying this keyboard were it not the (at the time) cheapest model Best Buy carried. actually maybe 2 years ago, and have never had a problem with using it in Windows.

The splashed on keys are a bit sticky, but if I were more committed I am sure I could easily look up how to remove/clean them online.Īlso, don't worry about this keyboard "not working" in Windows Vista/Windows 7. The keyboard took it like a champ, and has had absolutely no problems in function. Overall Review: A bit of coffee (with cream) splashed onto my keyboard about 4 months ago. It may be a problem with my setup as opposed to the keyboard, but this is the one I've got to test with. Occasionally when playing games it seems like not all of my key presses are sent (or like some of them stop sending a signal after 4 seconds or so). They work fine for USB memory sticks, wireless mouse adapters, and other small things, but don't expect to plug your external hard drive into one of them. The on-board USB ports are USB2.0, but do not have enough power to connect things like an iPod. (even after more than a year of ownership, it still pisses me off that they did this). The USB extension cable is 'keyed' so that absolutely no other USB device can be used with it without first modifying the female end to remove the key. The 'Num Lock' key is labeled Clear, the Scroll Lock key is remapped to F16 (immediately above 'clear'), etc. Pros: Nice look, smooth key action (still moves and responds like new after more than a year of HEAVY use), quality materials, included USB extension cable, & 2 built-in (low power) USB ports.Ĭons: Some of the buttons Windows users are used to are mapped to different locations or are simply missing.
